January Small Business Mixer

February 28 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm

The January Small & Minority Business Mixer proved to be a resounding success, focusing on empowering minority business owners and celebrating the next generation of entrepreneurs. Attendees gained valuable insights from a panel discussion featuring Dr. Briana Hawkins, owner of Stepped Boutique, and Horace Lewis, owner of Xpress Laundry Service. These local business leaders shared their experiences and strategies for success.

A highlight of the evening was the special recognition of two young entrepreneurs from Valiant Cross Academy, underscoring the school’s commitment to fostering future business leaders. Their achievements were celebrated as a testament to the academy’s role in shaping the entrepreneurial spirit in Montgomery.

The event brought together a diverse group of over 50 business leaders and key community partners, contributing to a broader impact on Montgomery’s small business ecosystem. By fostering ongoing partnerships with Valiant Cross’s young entrepreneurs and facilitating meaningful discussions, the mixer expanded the conversation around small business growth in the area.

Key partners such as The Lab on Dexter, REACH Women’s Business Center, Montgomery Chamber of Commerce, Alabama State University (ASU), the City of Montgomery, TechMGM, the Small Business Development Center (SBDC), the Montgomery County Commission, and Valiant Cross played a vital role in the success of the event, reinforcing the collaborative efforts to support and grow the local small business community.
